Teacher of Humanities Job Description

CURRENT VACANCIES - Support Staff

LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT
Scale C - £11,153 to £11,780 per annum
Permanent post, 31 hours per week, term time plus one week

The City of Norwich School – An Ormiston Academy is an exciting, forward thinking Academy with high expectations for all its staff and students. We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to work in class or with small groups and individual students to support learning and progress at CNS. This includes more specialised support for those students who have additional needs/SEND. You will need to have the ability to attend to the physical, personal care and social needs of students depending on the nature of their need.

The successful candidate will need to possess a genuine interest in young people and an insight into how they learn. Patience, flexibility and firmness are very important personal traits alongside good literacy/numeracy and ICT skills. The successful candidate should show the ability to use initiative to support student’s individual needs and to work as part of a large team. A commitment to, and experience of working with, young people with SEND and emotional/social difficulties would be an advantage. Most of the LSA’s work takes place in mainstream classrooms. 

Experience of working with additional needs/SEND is an asset but not crucial as training will be provided, and all support staff at CNS are involved in a review and development process. We have a dynamic and exciting team of Curriculum Support Tutors to enhance provision in supporting student progress, through whole class cover, small group tutoring and intervention. We are now seeking to appoint two enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our team. The permanent post will provide support in English, and the maternity cover will provide support in Humanities.

The successful candidates will be experienced individuals with a proven track record in educational support, with the ability to encourage students to learn and engender positive attitudes to learning. It is essential that you have experience of working in a support capacity with young people either in small groups or one-to-one.
