Key Stage 4
In Years 10 and 11, students at CNS follow a programme which ends in GCSE examinations, or alternatives. OpenOpportunity deliver a series of Btec and OCR National provision for students at KS4. All students have the opportunity to select subjects that would enable them to complete an English Baccalaureate.
The students take a core diet and 4 option choices that formulate blocks; the option choices are all mixed ability although Triple Science has a slightly narrower focus of target grades than the other subjects. The core is taught in half year groups (labelled East and West); core PE is mixed ability although there is room for some setting on occasion when staffing allows.
English, Double Award Science and Maths are taught in sets; RE and Citizenship is taught in sets inherited from the English groupings.
