Headteacher's Message, Friday 5th April 2019

Last night was Year 10 parents' evening and thank you to everyone who attended. Conversations were purposeful and honest and gave students clear guidance on how to move forward over the next three terms. Several parents spoke to me following their appointments to comment on how impressive the teaching staff are in terms of their enthusiasm, subject expertise and incisive knowledge of their children. CNS has always prided itself on the positive relationships staff and students build with each other. This is shown in the record proportion of Year 11 students wishing to stay on at CNS Sixth Form in September, due mainly to positive relationships.

Students have been running low on classroom equipment as the term has progressed, can I encourage all parents and carers to restock on the basics of pens, pencils and rulers over the holiday. Uniform is often in need of a refresh after two terms and our uniform suppliers have the correct school skirts and trousers. After months of campaigning by the student council led by Head Student Tim Hare, our uniform supplier is now also stocking smart and sensible CNS black tailored shorts. Students can wear these between Easter and October half term and must be the branded shorts worn with black socks and shoes.

I am delighted with the successes of students and staff over the course of the Spring term and when looking back at what has been achieved since January, it is not surprising how tired everyone is and that a well-deserved break is needed for all members of the CNS community. I hope you have a lovely Easter break and I look forward to seeing everyone return to school on April 23rd.
