Community
No
school today can educate children in isolation from the community and
CNS is delighted to be able to develop projects and opportunities which
help us provide Extended Services. We have always worked hard to "blur
the edges" between the school and the wider community and our status as
a specialist school has given us the opportunity to devote time and
resources to develop community relationships. We are particularly pleased with the way
our two specialisms, Technology and Arts, are enhancing the experiences
of all students and staff in the school.
We
have a range of formal partnerships with other schools in the area,
particularly our cluster primary schools and other high schools in
Norwich such as Hethersett High School .
We also value our relationships with local businesses and organisations
such as the Library Service, Adult Education, Youth & Community
Service and the Open University. These relationships ease our students'
transition from Primary to High School education and prepare them for
the world of further or higher education and the workplace.
A modern High School can be a major resource for learning and community development and we are proud to be able to share our resources with the others. The opening of the new buildings, which provide the extra space we needed when Year 7 students joined us for the first time in September 2007, has enabled us to provide a venue for an ever wider range of courses for adult learners and for social and business events. It is very pleasing to see the resources which the school has to offer being used so much beyond the normal school day.
Our
Community Education Coordinator, Thea Abbott, has been working with us
for the last 5 years to develop a sense of community both within the
school itself and in the relationships between the school and those
outside. If you would like to know more about events or opportunities
at CNS, or if you are interested in hiring any of our facilities you
can contact Thea Abbott by email or telephone 01603 274050.
