CNS DRAMUS PROJECT

“I’m a passionate believer in the importance of the performing arts.
I think it’s an incredibly strong element in the whole process of education.
We can give kids confidence. We can enable them to flower in all sorts of ways…

…We’re not just talking about acting. We’re talking about music, dancing,
and more importantly the whole teamwork of people that aren’t
natural performers but can work on the lights; can get confident in
stage management…

It (DraMus) is going to be a great and wonderful addition to this school.”
-Stephen Poliakoff, writer and film director, speaking at the CNS summer fete

DraMus is an ambitious project to provide exciting opportunities for performing arts at CNS for students and the community.
Our new performing arts building (Arc) is now finished, but the DraMus project continues in order to ensure the building is equipped to the highest standards.
One of the many aims of DraMus is to offer the facility to record not only individuals and small groups, but also larger choirs and amateur orchestras. This resource will not only be available to CNS students, but also to other schools and the community.
DraMus isn’t only about music, dance and drama. It will allow students to collaborate on all aspects of a theatrical production, from building sets, managing lighting and sound, through to direction and performance.

dramusThanks to the generosity of many friends of CNS, we have already raised approximately £550,000.  This has enabled us to enhance this building by adding music practice rooms, a control room, recording studio and tiered seating. (You can see the additional DraMus building work on this plan in yellow). During the Easter break, state of the art presentation equipment and the first lighting bars will also be installed.

Now we are fundraising for a further £50,000 to provide the last items necessary to achieve our vision of a really wonderful performing Arts Centre, and to continue improving facilities for sixth formers within existing school buildings.

Please watch out for fundraising events and support the exciting DraMus Project. If you wish to donate to the project now you may give on-line . Alternatively you may wish to send a cheque (payable to City of Norwich School Association) to CNS, DraMus project, Eaton Road, Norwich NR4 6PP

Many thanks to all of you who have given so generously already.  We are truly grateful for all gifts which will help us to benefit the community and provide the best possible learning experience for every student at CNS, now and in future years.
