Ski Trip - 05 Mar 2010
On 12 February, a group of 35 students, accompanied by Mr Stone, Mr Collard, Mrs Collard and Mr O’Brien, left CNS for Kaprun in Austria for the first ski trip since 1996. Staying in a hotel very close to the slopes, the group spent most of the week skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, at heights of over 2500m. Guided by instructors from the Oberschneider ski school, students made impressive progress – skier of the week was Fergus Hooper (11CE). As well as skiing, there was no shortage of après-ski activities; in the evenings the group enjoyed an ice-cream evening, an evening’s bowling – Austrian style – a ski show in temperatures of –8C and an exciting but ill-tempered ice-hockey match between EKZ from Zell-am-See and the Salzburg Red Bulls. On the final evening, medals were awarded by the ski school and students had to cook part of their own dinner – a traditional fondue evening! It was a great trip, in spite of a few injuries. For next year – another trip to the same resort and hotel is being organised for Easter 2011. The trip will be open to students currently in Years 7/8/9/10 – details will available from Mr Stone shortly.
