Admissions Consultation for the academic year 2022-2023
A consultation on the proposed changes to the City of Norwich School, An Ormiston Academy’s admissions policy for the academic year 2022-23 is running from 1st October 2020 to 11th November 2020.
To this end, the following amendments to our admission arrangements have been proposed:
Within the oversubscription criteria children of staff at CNS have been added to the list of priorities for admission as follows:
- where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, and/or
- the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
This is being proposed as a means of strengthening the CNS community and family values with staff members being able to educate their children at their place of work. It will promote a sense of belonging for staff families as well as support staff retention and recruitment.
A copy of the proposed admissions policy can be found here.
The letter sent to parent/carers can be found here.
A hard copy of the policy can be requested by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephoning 01603 274000.
All responses to the consultation should be made in writing and submitted before midnight on 11th November 2020 to:
City of Norwich School
Or via email at email@example.com
Please note that written responses should outline your personal details, including your name, address and relationship to the academy.

We are very proud of our school and our academic achievements, we are also passionate about education in its widest sense especially in the Arts. At present, we are heavily oversubscribed in most year groups however, we do occasionally have places available due to students moving out of the area.
Should you wish to make an in-year application for your child, we ask that you read the information and complete the form using this link: In-year school admissions and then send it to the Local Authority who manage our admissions.
If the School is Oversubscribed
If the school is oversubscribed , the criteria published by the Local Authority and made available to all parents/carers, will determine the means of allocation. Parents/carers who live outside of Norwich are advised to contact the Director of Children's Services for information relating to the arrangements for transferring to this school.
