CNS student wins first all-rounder national girls cricket trophy

Congratulations to Year 13 CNS student Maddy, who last weekend secured the first-ever all-rounder national girls cricket trophy called The1.

The competition was launched this year by Girls Cricket Club and was designed to showcase each contestant’s athletic ability under pressure, creating an entertaining offshoot of a traditional sport and providing opportunities for talented female cricketers in a male-dominated sport.

As well as winning the trophy, Maddy gets a year's contract with Kiikaburra bat makers and Paynter cricket shoes, as well as an international media profile.  She will now have the chance to play abroad in her gap year, before hopefully going to university to study sports and coaching and train to become a PE teacher (after an England cricket career she hopes!)

Well done Maddy!
