City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 1st April 2022

As the Easter break is upon us, I wish to share my thanks to parents and carers for the support shown during what has been a very challenging term for us with regards to staff and student absence.  Whilst we did expect Covid cases to rise, we did not expect to be in a situation so late in the term that we would need to revert to home learning for designated year groups.  Staff have worked particularly hard to support each other and cover classes where necessary and I am extremely grateful to parents, carers, staff and students alike.

It has also been a busy term for events; a visit from the BBC, Super Science Saturday, Duke of Edinburgh activities, and for the first time in over two years, CNS proudly presented a production of the Sound of Music.  If you were lucky enough to see it, I am sure you will agree that it was a spectacular event.  Our hard-working sixth form students also held several worthwhile community events; from raising awareness of the war in Ukraine and commemorating victims of gender-based violence, to raising funds for the Leeway Centre.

Alongside all of this, a working group has met to create a fitting memorial for the late Nick Stone.  This has been scheduled to take place at 6pm on May the 12th Christ Church, Church Avenue, Norwich, NR2 2AQ.  This will be an open invite event and more details will follow after Easter.

I wish you all a happy and restful Easter break.
