City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 20th January 2023

This week has been a quieter week, with the rhythm of the school taking its more natural flow. Students have responded well to the messages shared in form and assemblies and it has been lovely to visit house assemblies and share in the praise for students achieving well in all aspects of their school life. Assemblies are a wonderful opportunity to bring students together and share important whole school and wider world messages; this has been evident this week with Miss Powell and Mr Buisst leading Holocaust assemblies.

The cold weather has led to the site team being very busy keeping the school safe and I am grateful to the team for their hard work and commitment to CNS. Despite the cold, students were still able to enjoy our immense outdoor facilities at social time and PE. As a city school, we are very lucky to have such an expanse of outdoor space, and visitors are always surprised by the size of the campus when the front of the school suggests otherwise.

Congratulations to Year 13 who have undertaken their mocks this week, demonstrating determination and resilience in their approach to the exams. Many students are currently receiving UCAS offers providing the additional motivation that can be needed for study and revision.

I am looking forward to the weekend and celebrating my eldest son’s 25th birthday – it only seems minutes since he was born! I hope you have a lovely weekend too.
