City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 20th November 2020

This week we celebrated the achievements of our Duke of Edinburgh Certificate and Award winners. This was a shared event with Broadland High School and led by Ormiston Academy Trust. The Trust are very proud of all the achievements of CNS and it was lovely to see the students being acknowledged for their accomplishments, most of which were achieved during the lockdown period.  Well done to all our students who achieved Duke of Edinburgh success.

As the cold weather hits, we have been considering what students can wear to keep them warm on PE days and in well ventilated classrooms. With immediate effect students can wear plain navy leggings or tracksuit bottoms for PE as well as CNS ones. We are trying to avoid coats and non-CNS tops being worn in the classroom and to support this we will be introducing a CNS hoody as a temporary addition to uniform. This will be a cost effective and practical piece of uniform to supplement the CNS jumper and can also be worn for PE. Details of how to purchase these will follow soon. If families are struggling with uniform costs in these difficult times, please contact your Year Team for advice.

Keep your eyes peeled on the BBC One Show next week when the Pearson Teaching Award Winners will be announced. We do not know which day our category will be announced, and I will let you know if we are given notice of this.

Thank you for your support this week and please do not send your child to school if they are displaying Covid symptoms. I will keep you informed of any positive cases at CNS and you will be contacted separately if your child has been in close contact. We had some unpleasant phone calls this week from parents asking for information we are not able to share and leaving reception staff very upset. We understand this is a very difficult time for many families, however unkindness is not acceptable as we are keeping everyone as informed as possible. Please see the Covid section of the website for parental information.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend and continued thanks for your support.
