City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 28th May 2021

Today we said goodbye to Year 11 and Year 13. Both year groups have shown such resilience over the last two years,  and I couldn’t be prouder of them. Their leavers' assemblies today were full of celebration, and the strong relationships forged with each other and staff over the last five years were evident throughout. I am looking forward to welcoming back many of Year 11 to CNS Sixth Form and wish those venturing to other pathways every success for the future. Similarly, Year 13s have the excitement of university, apprenticeships, and gap year opportunities ahead of them; I wish them all well and look forward to hearing about their successes and adventures.

I would like to express my thanks to the staff of CNS who have had a challenging half term in managing classroom Covid restrictions and the workload of Teacher Assessed Grades. What has shone through is how much the integrity of the grading has mattered to staff in order that students have every opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned over their courses. My thanks as well to school leaders and support colleagues who have gone above and beyond in making the process a successful one.

I wish everyone an enjoyable, safe and happy half term. Like many of you, I am very much looking forward to seeing family and friends who I have not seen for a very long time.
