City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 2nd December 2022

As the end of term rapidly approaches, the evenings at CNS get busier with concerts, Award Evenings and celebratory events. On Wednesday Mrs Howard led her first Winter Concert at CNS which featured a range of genres, instruments, ages and experience. The evening was joyous, and it was wonderful to see how much progress our musicians make each year. Our Year 13s were stunning with their own compositions confidently performed; it is no surprise they are receiving offers to study from the most prestigious Conservatoires in the country.

Last night we celebrated the achievements of our Year 11 Subject, Progress, House and Special Award winners and there was so much for families, students and staff to be proud of. It was an emotional event as well, as we welcomed Nick Stone’s family to present the Language Award, as well as watching my son present the Philpott Award in place of his grandpa who passed away earlier this year.

Next week there is a Christmas dinner offer for students, and advance purchase is strongly advised. I highly recommend this meal which the staff will also be enjoying together after school.

I am looking forward to a weekend visiting my youngest son.  I hope you have a good weekend too and are able to enjoy Christmas preparation and early festivities.
