CNS Team Top Class in Science!

A team of Year 9 students at City of Norwich School, An Ormiston Academy (CNS), have proven that they are top of the class by winning this year’s CAST Education’s ‘Top Class in Science’ competition.

The eleven students have been battling against their peers from twenty-two other schools in Norfolk since January, taking part in quizzes that tested their knowledge and understanding of science.

The CNS team won every single one of the five rounds of the competition, making it through to the grand final where they played against Taverham High School at the University of East Anglia on Tuesday 26th March.

It was a tough competition, with the interactive quiz taking place as a live stage show before an audience of parents, teacher and fellow students, but the Year 9s held their nerve and, with the highest score at the end, they were crowned winners and awarded the trophy, along with individual gold medals.

CAST education has been inspiring young people in Norfolk for over 20 years using games, experiments, demonstrations and live shows to bring science to life for thousands of students, with Top Class in Science being one of their most popular events.

Mrs Jain, Teacher of Chemistry said “I am so delighted for the students on their outstanding victory in this very highly competitive science competition.  Their dedication and talent have truly shone through, and I am so very proud of them all on this fantastic achievement”.
