City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 6th May 2022

Following a heartwarming Awards Evening in April, we have been tidying up the trophy cabinet which can be found in the reception entrance at CNS. The cabinet draws the attention of many visitors and staff due to the beauty and history of it. Some of the cups date back to the school's early beginnings, whilst others are new awards from former students and staff in recognition of values and qualities they advocated when at school. The school’s longevity, traditions, community and excellence are all encapsulated in the trophy cabinet, with many names of our alumni engraved for posterity. Do take a look next time you visit the school.

I met with Year 12 students yesterday to open the application process for Head Students. Holding an assembly in the old common room made me nostalgic for the time when I led the sixth form. Much has changed since then, with CNS sixth form having its own accommodation whilst continuing to be one of the most popular sixth form destinations in Norwich. Year 12 is a superb year group; it was exciting to be launching the next round of the student leadership programme and I eagerly await their applications.

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend in the spring sunshine.
